Replacement Shovel Motors

Flanders Electric manufactures custom motors for many shovel applications. With data collected from years of shovel motor repair, Flanders Engineering Division has designed high performance motors that address the most common problem applications in electric rope shovels. Although the motors are totally redesigned internally, dimensionally these Flanders motors fit as a "drop-in" replacement for the OEM apparatus. Higher RMS ratings, improved commutation, and greatly reduced maintenance are hall marks of the Flanders designed shovel motors.

Repair of Shovel Motors

Flanders Electric has utilized the wealth of knowledge gleaned from 60 years of dragline and shovel motor repairs to develop repair processes and procedures that produce a repaired unit which is superior to the original product, and we back it up with the longest warranties in the industry.

Dipper Trip Upgrade

Approximately 30% of shovel trips in most mines are related to dipper trip issues. Flanders newly developed AC induction dipper trip motor and drive combination makes these problems virtually disappear.

Shovel Control Systems

Flanders Electric is the exclusive distributor for Avtron drives in rope shovel applications. Avtron Industrial Automation, Inc. is a leader in the design and application of digital drive systems. These rugged digital drives have proven to be a perfect solution for retrofit of obsolete or older drives. Flanders use of open architecture systems, utilizing off the shelf Allen Bradley PLC's make for a much more reliable and easier to maintain system. Allowing the customer to work with the system rather than struggling with mysterious "black box" technology is a tremendous benefit for the mine maintenance personnel.
