Flanders Electric has become a leading manufacturer of Custom Motors for specialty applications. Our motor manufacturing capability was originally developed to provide the high quality components demanded by our repair facility. After years of manufacturing our own motor repair components, in the early ‘90s Flanders began to manufacture complete custom motors in our Evansville Indiana facility. The motor manufacturing infrastructure was further expanded with the new acquisition of a 200,000 square foot facility in 2007. This new facility is dedicated to the manufacture of custom motors and has greatly enhanced the capabilities and efficiencies of our motor manufacturing processes.

Each custom motor is designed, built, and tested by our experienced staff utilizing our ISO 9001:2000 certified process. Our motor engineering department utilizes a conservative set of design parameters to provide for maximum longevity. The reliability of our custom motors is further enhanced by the inclusion a peer review process based on Flanders 60+ years of motor repair experience and failure analysis. Flanders custom motors are designed to withstand the harshest Mining and Metal Rolling applications.

We have approximately 50 distinct motor designs and hundreds of Flanders Electric custom motors in service worldwide. Our motor designs encompass the full spectrum of electric motors and include AC induction motors, AC synchronous motors, and DC motors & generators. Past custom motors manufactured by Flanders include 7000 HP AC Synchronous motors, 6000 HP DC Reversing Mill motors, Marine duty induction motors, multiple styles of excavator motors, and Explosion Proof underground motors. Horsepower upgrades of existing equipment and new motor designs for “Greenfield” projects are our most common custom motors. Spare motors & replacement parts for obsolete rolling mill motors round out the product mix.
